I had a good chat with Royter and Wayne Friebe way back when the plastics craze first started and those 2 were getting cricket scores on bream in the yarra. They even made a homemade video of it. Anyway, the topic turned to fishing the docks and the both of them said they'd never fish that area because it was not worth their time given it was so difficult to catch them there. The only time they would fish there is if they're eating lunch and want to find a sheltered calm area to eat lunch and while they're at it, make a few casts.
Granted I'm not one of those who can be considered "good" with bream on lures, I nearly gave up chasing bream on lures after fishing the docks exclusively for a year and a bit for only 3 bream landed. When I was shown the yarra by Swank_E, I got 3 in the first session as opposed to 3 in a year and a half at the docks..
The bream at the docks do have their moods and I remember once (only once in a long time, mind you) when a friend went to the docks with plastics and the bream were going nuts. He'd just lower the SP into the water, hold it for a while and the bream would be climbing over themselves to hit the SP.
If you recalled, the first BREAM tourney in Vic was held in Docklands with Starlo winning it with 3 fish and second place was Lee raynor with 2. Another Melbourne tourney, most of the guys went to the yarra, but Tim Morgan fished the docks for very little results while the rest were doing really well in the yarra.
The docks are tough and anyone who says they aren't are in a different league altogether.. There's us mere mortals, and then there's Jordan...

I caught them on the Eco Gear grass minnows in sizes S and M, they were smahing them left right and centre on Sunday. Alas shortly after they were starting to hot up I had to leave to be back in Stawell before midnight . I got photo's but they are on the slide film. The tide was just starting to slow up untill it stopped then I had to go and they were still everywhere. Those prizes are going to be awesome for the Bream Classic, cant wait to win them, well try anyway. Just wish the comp would hurry up and get here .

Lol - Some days he does make it look a little easy. Hooked - played and landed all while eating an Icecream. The smart arse was even out fishing us while we were using baits.

Jordan put me onto my first bream on plastic. I just remember how after I'd caught my first, I decided to flog a particular corner of his for a while, hoping to catch another. Of course, he comes back after something like fifteen minutes and two casts later, lands another one.

Did I mention that he'd already caught one from that exact same hole before he showed me how to do it? Well, he did...

That cast has since been named "The Insult". He still does that to us these days. And it is still working.

Peeking through an insert in Modern Fishing I got a look at one of the Abu Cardinal Alloys. As I have a soft spot for my C100UL, I'd be really interested in seeing if there's an upgraded model.

Hey Ballnuts, any joy with those pics? What sizes do they come in?

Sorry mate

I have been flat out getting married and trying to organise some final comp issues. I will get those pics on the web tonight. The size of the reels are 1500 and 2500.

Cheers
Bill
