Best fly lines for bream?

I'm thinking about taking up fly fishing again. I used to do a lot of it around 20 years ago, but I was mainly a trout fisherman then. I still have most of my old gear.

My old 4/ 5 weight Composite Developments rod and Loop reel are loaded up with a 5 weight FT floating line in a medium grey colour. Would this outfit be any good for bream fishing?

I imagine that I would be better off with a clear intermediate line for spooky bream in shallow water. Would I also need a faster sinking line as well, do you think?

Either way, I will use long tapered fluorocarbon leaders. I plan to get back into making my own flies. I still have my fly tying vice and a lot of materials. I've been studying the fly section of this forum for ideas.

For shallow water I use a floating line. Fast sinking lines I find difficult to use because the belly of the line sinks far faster than the fly, leaving a lot of slack. Its impossible to detect bites and bream aren't always going to hook themselves.. Vibes and blades are far more effective down deep

I agree, you should probably choose another line that the Floating one you have.
the Rio In-touch Camolux is a great line for Bream. It's a Low strecth, WF/I line.

Okay, thanks guys. I'll look into buying an intermediate line as well.
