"Snag-Magnet Lures"

Decided to ditch the "Snag-Magnets" and just buy some crab lures.
Unweighted, they fall just like a natural - but they wont always ride hook side up. So I got the scissors out and started chipping lead off a 1/16th to see what could be done..... (I inadvertently created a stand up jig-head in the process, which will be used in other applications, but thats not what I was aiming for at the time) Last edited by yellow door 1; 06-04-2016 at 03:31 AM. |

no matter how much lead I took off - I could get the exact horizontal stance I was after for slack lining crabs down a pylon -
The drag of the line, may keep the attitude I like but I wast sure if it would - so I kept searching for a solution that worked in my test bucket.. Last edited by yellow door 1; 06-04-2016 at 03:03 AM. |

I was trying to get away from the "Arse first" sink when it hit me.
I said to myself - Larry you're a bloody genius with a proven track record of turning dreams into reality. Plus you dont mind stealing office supplies I borrowed a couple of staples and got to work. Made some "light" and some "ultra lights" |

just stick the staple through the centre of the crab..

Add a size 4 bait holder hook - Give the staple a crank and she'll flutter horizontally, with hook point riding up - first time - every time.
(yet to be trialed in the real world - so I dont know how useful it will be - but I'm usually pretty bloody spot on with this sort of stuff) For those who noticed that hook has a rolled over point - congrats - that the sort of 1%er I usually pick up on - Luckily that hook is only for demonstration purposes and not a brand I plan to use for this purpose Last edited by yellow door 1; 06-04-2016 at 03:27 AM. |
