Flattie with the boys...

Just a shot I got from Saturday with the GoPro while snorkelling at my local.

A big female flathead with 3 boys hanging around - looks like that time of year...

At no time were they letting her out of their sight...

I had the shots at .5 of a second and 3 pictures from her laying to taking off were really 'fubar', second pic down was the only decent one from when she took off from her spot. She took off quickly but they managed to keep up!

Thanks mate, usually had my duel wield GoPro cradle, however that day I took my single handed GoPro handle - some shots were a little putrid to be honest.

I love seeing the big girls lazily sit there and just look at the lures, baits and other offerings go on by, especially how tame they are to snorkellers getting right up into their faces. I have managed to touch a few on the backs thats how easy they are around there.

Anyhow hope someone gets some enjoyment of how a flathead lives it life in the Gold Coast Broadwater.

Great pics mate! I took 3/4 of my boys for a late afternoon walk and took a rod "just in case" and I caught a little male flathead, I hardly ever see the males where I live so it must be breeding season. Very interesting to see how close they hang out with the female...

Love the school of whiting!! How big were they and when do we target them?

Nah she's a rock because I chased the flatty for a bit and I actually grabbed it - a while back I did touch a large Stone fish there and the yellow mouth really caught my eye... I know what to look for now!

Whenever, I have my Alvey 500C5 and my Yabby pump ready at will if you want to do a bait session with a popper session for whiting over the many flats there.

They were of good plate size... Definitely would love a feed of fresh whiting!
