Yeah...they are prone to snagging the bottom there. I remove my centre treble and replace my rear treble with "W" hooks, this almost eliminates snagging. Its hard to say whether it reduces the hookup rate, as the normal hookup rate is about 50/50 anyway.

I think so...thats my theory anyway. I've got no idea why though. Maybe they feed on the tube worms in winter...who knows?
But in the dirty winter water, dark coloured blades (for me) definitely out fish anything else.

How did you get on Friday night?

I think they spook easily, that's why the small lift and rest works. Also the darker the blade the better. It could possibly look like a crab or a Gobi at that depth.
I had a session a few years ago with Dale (GTX Rally), we were testing different colors. He was using a shiny, flashy blade and I was using a black ecogear vx35. We were both using the same technique, but the black blade got about 20 fish to the flashy blade 5.

Since then I have only dark natural colors in winter.

Got zero anything , seemed like a decent night for a fish was abit chilli. But nothing. I'm gonna have to try some of the darker blades and test out that theory. I used the blades for a while then switched to micro vibes. No success! All part of it, next weekend should be abit more decent weather wise I hear, mite last out there abit longer!!
