Tackle box / Lures Maintenace

Hey Guys,

So a few of my lures and tackle boxes that they were sitting in have rust, nothing huge but enough to annoy.
Just curious to the best way to clean the lures and tackle boxes to get them back in a respectable shape.

(I've tried warm water, it eliminated most of it from both the lures and tackleboxs but not all, is there a way to eliminate all rust from both. If so please share)

Thanks in advance.

Wash lures in warm water, dry, then coat with WD40

Vinegar and water in a 50 / 50 mix. Use a good toothbrush to get it moving and then was out with some dish-washing solution... Use warm water for both solutions...

Like I said many times before in my prior incarnation - find some Potassium Nitrate soaked paper AKA 'VCI Paper' and cut that inst strips and load a good strip of that with each lure slot in the tackle box.

Found that this has been a sure fire way to keep lures and jig heads from corroding, inc the lead part going white... Has been very successful with my lures!

You also could make a Potassium Nitrate mix and keep it in a bucket and dip your lures in them after washing and hang to dry and that would coat the lure and keep rust at bay while its in the box and that would also keep other lures from rusting away...

Where abouts can you buy the ' VCI Paper' from?

Cheers

Usually free from places that wrap the paper around steel parts and stainless steel sinks, I would try to source it from a kitchen installation place. I get it from work with heaps of stuff coming in wrapped in both marked and unmarked VCI paper.

Otherwise you can buy the VCI plastic tabs with highly inflated price tags from a Australian company which I wont mention as they're a rip off, and or on e.B.a.y if you can find a reputable seller?

Go and see a bearing supplier as it is the same paper that bearing assemblies are wrapped in.
