Just a man with a plan doin what he can.
I might have another crack at it - but the Mr Twister vid seems to have taken care of the mystery for me. |

I can see the tail down method lifts the rear of the S/P on the slow roll that might be a good thing but i rarely slow roll placcies, its not really a very good vid to present your on the drop argument but i suggest you don the snorkel and mask and make your case....interested.
cheers nereus

But I made the vid to see if slowing down the footage would prove anything - it didnt really - but I'd made it - so I stuck it up The urgency to prove the theory with my own footage left as soon as I saw the Mr Twister vid - If he says to rig tail down to avoid line twist - that's all the confirmation I needed.. |

Yeah those tests were done with 1/8th jigheads - so I imagine that tail up instability is accentuated with lighter heads and big tails.
So you'll get great tail wobble on a constant retrieve - but the chances of spiralling on the drop with slack line are quite high |

Try one with a stinger for action on slo mo.

Where do you put a stinger on single tail grubs?

Was there more instability in the tail up in the Vid? Or just noticeable in real life? You would be able to see wobble better in two tone placcies. that said I do like a wobble though paddle tails wobble heaps.

I was doing some testing the other night and it turns out its very difficult to rig a single tail grub that doesnt spiral on the drop - tail up or tail down - but tail up spirals worse |

It was also my observation that the tail down grub swam straight and more natural

Yeah my tank is only 60cm long and a goldfish got in the way at the end - but thats what was happening

This has me rethinking how I rig my grubs.

Yeah I think the tail up presentation comes into its own when the lure is on the bottom. Especially with plastics that float - they say the tail wiggles seductively in the current when rigged tail up
