Chap Stick - what do you need that for?

I got my first wind knot in a very long time on the weekend. I just tried to yank it out and snapped the line.

If I was smarter I would have lubed up the line with spit to cut down on friction.

I was thinking about it today and wondered if google had any answers to the ultimate wind knot hack.

That was when some bloke mentioned carrying a chap stick in his tackle bag - not only does it keep your lips soft and kissable on a windswept beach - it can be applied to wind knots to help tease them out.

Because even if the wind knot untangles out with no lube - theres a good chance the friction has created a weak spot in the line that will come back to haunt you in the future

Now that I've thought about it for another few minutes - I reckon some sort of odourless oil or cream would be better for penetrating all the fibres involved.

I briefly entertained the idea of tuna oil for its fish attracting abilities but that stink may not be an odour you want in the car or house after the fishing is done

Ahh ok - so you spray it on before fishing - How does it go with FG knots - is the line more slippery

I haven't had any issues with knots(Fg) using it, makes the line more supple and cleans well.
