There are some big sharks out there and lots of them. (seen with my own eyes)
I wouldn't recommend a kayak!

depends on the reef but most reefs that are exposed have lagoons, the water can be a meter or 2 deep for kilometers, theres DohDohDohDoh all threat of sharks apart from tiny whalers/black tips. id say go for it but you would hassel the crew and other passengers loading the yak in and out of other boats and then there is the liability but they do run spear charters and theres not much else that puts you on the menu faster

Anything is possible. But an extended yak trip in the Coral Sea... I'd rather burley up some Whites and then jump in bleeding. If you had a larger boat with others, to stay onboard of for the majority and could keep it in close range when you are in the yak I don't see how it can't be managed

thats the plan mate minus the whites and bleeding of course.
id imagine 3-4 hours at a time in the yak, not too far from one of the tenders. shark shield, video camera and about $12billion worth of lures hahaha.

Why would you bother spending all that money on going out with nomad to go out in your yak?? When you could just go in one of there boats??? Sorry I just dont see the point

Because they will give him quick and easy access to the reefs, but allow him the thrill of catching that quality of fish from his yak. If I had the money I would kill to do the same from my yak!

exactly what bargeass said. if i could get gts, mackeral, doggies, red bass etc etc etc i wouldnt bother. but the idea of tangling with some of the biggest fish the world has to offer kinda turns me on. outta curiosity breambasher have you ever fished from a yak?(not being a smart arse) getting dragged into pontoons by a bream is fun, getting dragged around by even a tiny gt or coral trout would be insane.
if someone has another yak option that would save me a few grand then i'd be glad to hear it cheers YD

pretty easy answer to that, load your yak onto the barge that goes to North west island, its about 60km off gladstone and you can take camping gear. the fishn isnt as good as where nomad go but there is still a lot of good fish
