Polycraft 4.1

Hi guys. Been out of the bream scene for a while but getting getting back into it.
What's are people's thoughts/experiences with the 4.1 Polycraft. Looking at an open boat with a 50hp yammy 2 stroke with hydro trim.
Me and my fishing buddy are both over 6 foot and over 100kgs. Just wondering how the stability and ride will be with 2 big boys. Any things I should look for with a second handy?
Cheers in advance.

Hey mate I don't own one but have fished out of one heaps ,
PROS
Well priced
Soft ride
Tough , can bump into jetties etc with little consequence
Stable fishing platform
Good for skinny water
No corrosion
CONS
Limited storage
Are a bit of a wet boat if choppy
Hop this helps cheers Steve

4.1

Hey mate...I have a 4.1 poly and it's gold...do a full casting deck at the front, 2 batteries underneath and the rest for storage. Then do an extension of the casting deck to fit a livewell in the centre and more storage on the sides. run a wide shelf down the non drivers side for rods and you're all good. they're a great solid boat at a good price...fitouts are cheap and easy.

cheers

Thanks mate. I've always liked then. Not popular in Adrlaide at all so they can get a bit pricey

Loved mine sort of regret selling it
As others have said ride great and very little maintenance.
def needs 50 hp though as they are heavy for a 4.1.
downside is very few factory options available ie live wells, rod lockers etc.
renegade would be a bit more of a crossover boat I imagine.
if just for bream then you wouldn't be disappointed.

In Adelaide it will be used in the Port River chasing bream/mulloway and then the Murray River chasing Cod/callop.... Occasional trip to Nelson/Glenelg River.
It's pretty much exact same price for either boat.
Resale on the Quinny is a big positive.

i bought my 4.1 about 2 years ago, at the time i was looking at the 420 aswell, i dont regret getting the 4.1 i'd recommend the 50hp, i have an old 35hp tohatsu and it kicks along around the 48klm, the next motor will be the 50ho i also fitted smart tabs and they work great, the boat just lifts out of the water, i used the boat around 6 times the 1st year and the gas struts failed, looking for something better to replace the struts, fitted a seat in the center ( cut a stainless seat mount and rewelded it like a u shape) i use a bum seat with the extendable pole or a seat with about a 14" pole, the water snake runs of the rear battery with 50amp cable and 50amp resetable fuse (really only need 40amp) i also run the same cable on the car thru a voltage sensing relay with a short cable between the car and trailer.
i see the 420's and if in ruffer water, i might have gone that way or the 4.5 polycraft.
cheers stuart

Looking at your avatar, get your mate to buy a pro Angler and you can have a ball on the bream from just about anywhere

I'm a little biased though, I own an outback lol

I also own a poly boat too and can vouch for smooth ride. I've taken a couple of the polycrafts for a spin a few times and they are solid boat and I'd say more stable than equivalent tinny

Wink

Bringing up an old thread here but need some advice.

Thinking of buying a 4.1 challenger what's everyone's pro's and con's?
Are they a good boat? or should I stick to Alluminum...

Thanks In advanced.
