We were off Maltona amongst a couple hundred boats, when we motored back we went through the main pack and realised they were sitting a few meters shallower than we were, on a drop off. That might have been our problem I think as we didnt see anyone close to us catching fish but apparently there were plenty caught out there.

Yeah fishing in the pack can be frustrating - just sitting there thinking why would a snapper eat my bait when there are 1000 other baits on the bottom. You've just got to hope the school is huge and hungry.

Speaking of being in the right spot - I find in PPB its quite difficult to pin point your spot due to lack of current and variable winds. GPS is for Noobs

With the aid of these - you can always see where you wanted to be - even if the boat has swung away with the wind Not going to much use in the pack but its good in the wide open spaces
