After the Pallet tall boy was so well received - A request was put in for a longer version.

6 junk heaps later and I had the materials required for a long and tall

Yeah they look pretty sweet but I'm not known for my intricate skill level or patience - plus I've already got a couple of speakers kicking around

Also cut some bigger holes in my charcoal chimney and bought a couple of temp gauges for my junk pile webers

I havent tested them on the coals yet but I know they work - I found an electric hair straightener on another junk pile and tested them with that

Nice one Spoonta - thats what I ended up doing - also spread the coals out a bit -

Now that I have a temp gauge I'm beginning to see how sweet a science, coal placement is.

Turns out the reason my drumsticks were taking 3 hours to cook is coz I had my coals scattered sparsely (gaps between them) - and the weber was sitting on 100c after the initial inferno - I now understand why you stack the coals in one corner - Its so half the buggers dont go out.

As usual I'll learn the hard way - but a lesson learnt through stupidity is a lesson remembered
