What state has the best fishing????

hey guys and girls,

i'm bored and trying to make some choices for later in life when I settle down and buy a house, etc.

what I wanna know is, before I make any decisions for my long term home, which state has the best fishing and why?

i'm keen to learn about every species available, not just the main players, ie barra, snapper etc. that way I can go out and blow thousands on tackle and be ready to roll

if you wanna reinforce your vote, feel free to chuck in some photos

cheers guys

nagz

That's easy... TASSIE

Biggest Bream

Derwent Searun Trout

Highland Trout

100kg plus Bluefin

Yellow Fin
Albacore (best on the chew)
Mako Shark
Blue Eye Trevalla
Striped Trumpeter
Huge KGW

West Coast Searun Trout Munters

Big Bluespot Flatties

I'm sure I've missed a few highlights

Oh the scenery is ok too

Has to be WA. Anything from mullet to marlin. When you have places like exmouth with the variety of species to catch, then the pilbara and kimberley with barra etc, in the southwest with demersal species plus big seriola jigging and deepwater monsters like bass groper and hapuka, the south coast with some of the most picturesque breaming in Aus. We dont have a very well developed freshwater fishery, but we do have some trout and redfin, plus freshwater crayfish too. We can tick pretty much all the boxes apart from Bass and Murray Cod, officially anyway

By the sounds of it you need to go flyfishing and catch a bonefish and permit, then chase big samsonfish, AJ's and Kings jigging and take up trolling for marlin and sailfish. There some big dollars for you and you wont ever get tired of it.

Well i can tell you Tassie has the best bream but its not the best fishing.

Would have to be NT i reckon. Heaps of awesome species, hot beer drinking weather and heaps of work in oil & gas.

Downside the women are blokes.

I believe we should recall Dowellys insane Port hedland session

Perhaps this will appeal? Absolutely love fishing in WA, such versatility!!

I'm NSW through and through but realistically you cant go past WA,you have the far northern species right through to the southern most species and every thing in between.

only problem with West Aust is you'd need to own a petrol station or a plane to travel from up north to down south..

Heres a few prize species you will run into in WA- aside from the smaller species like bream, whiting, flatties etc.

Black Marlin
Blue Marlin
Striped Marlin
Sailfish
Mahi Mahi
Giant Trevally
Golden Trevally
Permit
Bonefish
Barramundi
Yellowtail Kingfish
Pink Snapper
Cobia
Mangrove Jack
Yellowfin Tuna
Southern Bluefin Tuna
Dogtooth Tuna
Wahoo
Spanish Mackeral
Brown Trout
Rainbow Trout
Coral Trout
WA Dhufish
Tailor
Australian Salmon (biggest you will find in aus)
Mako Shark
Queenfish
Mulloway

The only ones that are over east that we miss out on from memory are
Bass
Murray Cod
Yellowbelly
EP's
Elephantfish from PPB
Jungle Perch
Tas Trumpeter
......

The only thing that is hard to grasp about WA is the cost of living. Huge petrol prices, housing prices and food prices. If you can work around it then I would say a house in Exmouth, a house in Perth and a house in Albany, brand new cruiser wagon and say a 17ft fiberglass centre console to do anything from breaming to deep jigging and trolling and your onto a good thing.
