All members please read

Classifieds rules are now in place!

Even if you are not a seller you still need to read this as replying to a classified could get you a warning or deletion!

If you do not follow the rules as set out all moderators will from now on just delete your post. It is not our fault you do not read the rules and I am getting tired already of sending PM's to people.

A few members have already been banned so please read the rules to prevent you e mailing me whinging that you did not deserve getting banned.

************* TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR BREAMMASTER CLASSIFIEDS (Read Before Posting)**********
________________________________________

The Breammaster Classifieds section can only be used if you have 25 Posts. Trolling the site just to achieve the required posts could mean a permanent ban from the Breammaster Forums.

In order to use this forum you must adhere to the following guidelines:

• The forum is for private selling only.
Commercial entities using the Classifieds will have their posts removed.

• Serial Selling.
These are chat forums and the classifieds are supplied as a service to members, if you are one of the users lucky enough to travel a lot, do not think you can use these forums to offload your extras to make a profit. Serial sellers who are not regular contributors to the forums will be deleted.

•Before you place a classified advert please ensure that your user profile is filled out and up to date, you must have your location filled out, or your post will be removed.

• Ebay, Gumtree Or links to other sites are not permitted.
If an item is on Ebay, Gumtree or any sites also selling your item/s you cannot post a link through the Classifieds. Classifieds cannot be used to promote your other adds and promote other sites. You may state that it is for sale elsewhere.

• Must have an accompanying Picture
The use of generic pictures is not permitted for used items - the picture must be of the actual item you are selling. If you are unable to post an image of the actual item for some reason please PM a moderator and we will see how we can assist.

• An asking price must be present
You are required to have an asking price for the item. Auction sales are not permitted as they often result in threads becoming ridiculously long. Ebay is the place to go if you want to sell your item that way!

• General chat
General chat is NOT permitted unless it is directly related to asking questions on the sale and answers given. This area is NOT a general discussion area. If you want to ask a question to the seller not related, send a PM. General chat will be removed, adds can be deleted and warnings will be issued.

It is no ones place to say something is too expensive if they have no intention of purchasing. It is no ones business except those genuinely wanting to buy.

• Bumping
It doesn't work as all threads are random and only gets the attention of the mods. If you have something to add to your thread regarding the sale, please do so but blatant bumping or continuously adding to thread just for the sake of it is NOT permitted. If something isn't moving or there is no interest, look at adjusting your price.

• Moderators and admin reserve the right to edit the content of any post or thread at their discretion. Once an item has sold please make a post stating that the item is sold. Threads may be removed after 30 days to the discretion of mods/admin.

• Warnings will be given and threads closed if these Terms & Conditions are not adhered to.

Hints for successful buying/selling:

• Be honest and accurate
The more information you can provide about the item for sale the better. Describe its condition, age, what it suits, how long you have had it and maybe even reason for sale. All of this makes it easier for buyers to see if it is the item they’re after.

• Keep a record of communication between you and the buyer/seller. It’s in your best interests to do this so if something goes wrong, it can be easily resolved.

• View the item in person before buying if possible.
If you’re in a different location, consider asking somebody you know who may be closer to have a look for you. This is especially so for higher priced items such as boats or motors.

• Agree on price
Never transfer money or pay for an item without agreeing on the price and terms of the sale.

• If something goes wrong with the sale
Contact the buyer/seller and try to resolve it. Keep in mind we will not get involved but if you do come across a dodgy dealer, report them so we can monitor their activities/take the appropriate action. It is not our responsibility if a sale goes seriously wrong, in the worst case scenario you should consider calling the police and making a report.

. Use registered post or express post
When sending an item, this method requires a signature at either end, so you have far less chance of things going missing in the post, and if they do, they can be found a lot easier.

. Dodgy dealers
Users who do not pay for/send items should be reported to any member of the admin team via PM. We do not want these people ruining the forums, and we will take appropriate action (including banning of users and possible police involvement where appropriate).

* Any user who is found to be ripping off/defrauding/stuffing other users round will be immediately banned. No ifs, no buts, no maybes. If you think you can do dodgy deals here, consider this your first and only warning.

Note that we do not take any responsibility for any transactions done in the Breammaster Classifieds

This is in bold print at the top of every page, and by using the Breammaster Classifieds you agree to it, but we will wherever possible and appropriate, assist users if things do go wrong.

Whether you are buying or selling through these forums, you should keep the following points in mind:-

* Communication is important - email addresses, mobile phone numbers etc. It is in your best interest to not do these transactions solely through PM's, get mobile / phone numbers and e mail addresses and keep a record of them so if you need to contact the buyer/seller, you can do so easily.

* Always keep a copy of any bank receipts, transfer receipts etc for your own records, and wherever possible, use registered post to send items through the mail. This requires someone to sign for the item when it's delivered, and is easier to track if it goes missing somewhere along the line.

If there are any issues please contact a moderator or myself through PM or preferably e mail info@breammaster.com

This seems to happen all to often. Good set of rules imo.

I may have over looked it but buyers also need to have location info and also when sending a PM to a miner who is selling something use your real name when signing. Not just your user name eg breamhead.
I always put my name when sending PM's (even though my user name is my name these days) I think it's pretty rude to not provide your name from the get go hen your about to enter into a transaction or your enquiring about product for sale.
Once again sorry if it is in there or what I'm saying falls in another category.

Dan

Good point Dan, presumed that one would be just as a matter of courtesy but will put it in there as well.

Will also fix up the bold and asterix bits...

Ian.

As long as it is not a commercial site it is probably OK. Commercial links should be restricted to sponsors.

Read the Rules

There are to many rules in life, if people don't read the rules they can't complain if they get into trouble.

Im a member of other forums that until you get to 50 posts the classifieds section isnt even visable! That makes more sense to me. It almost always automatically sorts out genuine members from those that just sign up to sell their gear. Who can be bothered contributing 50 posts if you really dont wanna be here??

Besides that the classifieds seem to function pretty well.

I really only have one suggestion....

I know Bear loves to sell each individual lure in a separate thread. I remember jumping on here one day and almost the entire first page was Bears F/S threads. A terrible look for the site IMHO.

No suggestion to combine similar items in the same thread???

Why is it that a gumtree link etc is banned . If there is a good item that suits a member then isnt it in good intention to let members know.

Its ok to make rules and i agree they suit a purpose , but i thought a site was to inform and help members pursue a passion for fishing which involves help in not only informed technique but also assistance to find gear at great prices.

I would understand a serial offender , but i cannot see the logic in this rule if people are posting a link to a fair priced daiwa that may get overlooked without some posted information.
