Every time I go fishing I know the fish are there, I can see them but ahhhhh.
So I'm going simple The set up i use is:

- 2-4kg shakespeare synergy II 7" foot light action
- reel to match
- tournament exceed fireline 6lb
- rod length of flurocarbon 1kg
- lures range from atomic hardz cranks in ghost gill - gulp shrimps on a 1/12th

I'm not up your way but i'm prsuming winter is still a tough time to be fishing hard body lures. What other plastics have you tried mate? As others say slow slow slow!!!! What kind of structure are you fishing? Deep or shallow?

Yeah they are good.

1/8 usually would work better, and they definitely sink slower as they are lighter.
Just depends on the mood of the fish and the depth & current your working in.

i cant remember but i think it was on a 100mm squidgy fish whilst fishing for flathead :P ahah but iv even caught them on $1 plastics from k-mart just depends if they are fussy or not and if you can see them (im guessing with your eyes not a sounder) then they can see you aswell and they will get spooked so try using some finesse and be quiet try standing back a few metres and having a few casts and slowly work you way forward if your land based

For me starting out it was Attack Minnow (Euro Carp pattern) hardbodys. Was a very satisfying moment indeed after many hours of bumps, follows and near miss attempts by cunning bream in clear water down Claremont way.
