fc rock bream bream special

hey guys just wonderign if anyone has done some testing on this and has some for or against between this and the standard fc rock. my stocks of fc are getting a bit low and might need to restock a few sizes so after a bit of help, at the moment im leaning towards the standard as its hard to beat in my opinion.

cheers clay

I got the Bream Special in 4 6 an 8 lb. I'm not at home but I'll do some tests when I get home, gimme about 4 days (unless someone replies quicker!). Any requests or are you just talking breaking strain?

I do really like the Bream special, but it wasn't like I suddenly started catchin more bream. Original is super value and still awesome FC.

just chasing some info on it as to why its better if so, as in memory, breakign strain, durability, knott concerns etc. im guessign its sposed to be better but in what ways.

if its not up to its name then ile just stay with the originals

I got some many months ago an to tell you the truth I don't think I have used it.

I was told that it is a little softer, not sure how true that is

Cheers

I gave it a go. Got a few different lb's and I'm not a fan. It was MUCH harder than the other fluoro i use, and thicker. I wont be buying it again.

I've had a spool of the 5lb for a while and I don't really rate it much better or worse than the standard FC Rock comes in a way smaller spool which can be handy if your packing very light say just filling you pockets and going for a flick.
But isn't parallel spooled it is a tad softer and slightly less memory, but value For money FC Rock hands down in my opinion.

Its a spinning flouro, can be used as leader but it is meant to be a main line. I've heard some people have had problems tying leader knots with it as it is too soft and the braid cuts through it, this is in the light line classes anyway.

I had a look at both in 4lb, my scales broke so everything is just observation. When i was biting the tags of knots, i think BS felt a little tougher to chew through, and also looked a fraction stiffer, but the differences weren't huge.

Sorry cant test breaking strain, i did pull it appart with hand, BS again slightly harder to break but marginal. What matter more is what ties the best leader knot.

But in terms of what advantages it has over ROCK, not sure, both go as well as each other for me. The BS spools fit in your pocket better though...

All in all, BS is good leader, but not worth being double in price IMO.

Fair bit of difference between 3 and 4, im the same stick to 4lb now. I think 2 and 3lb lines work better straight through, leader knots become a pain.

Got a 42cm travally last week and man did he give me some stick. Had my rod bent in a U most of the same, drag singing. Rock fc in 4lb tied to nanofil, not a drama.

As a non-boater, the smaller FC Rock spools come in really hand. After using various sizes on both bream and bass, I don't believe its worth the extra money.

I tend to agree that Fc is the best line in this value class IMO and good value for money. I normally use V Hard and after reading these post, I put it to the test this morning (as I have both). V Hard is definitely a better line IMO. I wrapped both ends of each around 2 sections of broom handle and broke several lines. The V Hard was far superior. I know that I did not have scales, but they were not required. The difference was quite substantial. 6lb V Hard was quite hard to break, whilst Fc was only moderate. Biting several sections off with my teeth, I did notice a difference also. V Hard was a little harder to cut through. After reading these posts I decided to just stick with FC, but after the tests, I will go back to the V Hard. I know it is expensive... but worth it IMO.
