The Z-Man I glued with 406, failed at the join today, had gone crusty around the edge

I also just tested the Zman and it let go when it got to about 2.5 times the original length - I just glued it back together and it seems to be holding again but it seems the join doesnt not age well with these super glues. The Zman to lead jighead bond with super glue is still solid I did have a few other failures with other plastics but some bonds stayed rock solid using the exact same plastic from the same lure - while others failed - so there is definitely some driver error at the critical gluing stage I'm probably going to spend $40 testing all these super glues - when the "Pros Soft bait glue" seems to be the answer to all my problems |

That video hasn't been my experience with mend it, the mend it joins I have a seem strong enough (I havent pulled them apart again to test but know theyre strong enough) and the best part is that it isn't hard like superglue, I think its like a solvent for the actual placcy, if u put too much on it will melt through the placcy.

How long would you have to press the plastics together to achieve a bond with "Mend it"? If I dont let superglue set for a couple of minutes, it can pull apart like the "Mend it" did in that video - so for an on the water solution - rapid set is a big plus. Zmans have a faster curing time than other plastics I tried with super glues - 30 seconds can be enough - but you do get a hard crust that can fail over time. |

Well the loctite 406 I got was just watered down clag
When I asked for a refund it was instantaneous. Which makes me think I'm not the first person to have had issues with that seller I think this is where my search will end as the 401 is still holding - its nowhere near as good as the instant malleable bond of The Pros Soft Bait Glue - but with a bit of care and a decent cure time it sort of does what I need it to do. I'll just have to pre-rig everything and have spares (which is something I already do, so its no biggy) |

Fail
20 minutes later the join has failed, anyone want some clag
406_4.jpg Glue has sort of crystallised on the surface, no penetration or bond. 406_5.jpg Might try the kicker....
