Karl,

If you're not too fussed about checking the home page every time you visit breammaster, try bookmarking this link.

http://www.breammaster.com/forum/sea...&action=getnew

Directs you to the newest threads/posts since your last visit.

That's the link I use for Breammaster, and other forums as well.

Thanks Rayman that's useful.

But I really like to check the home page to see what activity (number of new comments) has happened to existing posts at the same time as seeing if there are any new ones.

It's a time factor thing ... I like a quick scan of the home page and then back to work so if all the latest posts + new ones were there in one viewing, showing 20 instead of 10 It'd be really handy and I think new users would benefit from a home page with an expanded list.

Also I feel that BM membership has grown to the point that I don't think the 10 threads displayed is enough. What I mean by this is that there are so many people posting up new threads now, that when you put up a post it's bumped off the home page (where it gets maximum exposure) really too quickly.

Cheers for the link anyway, much appreciated

Karl

ok, a couple of ideas
maybe make a topic for tests because there is always new members that dont no how to post a photo, so they could try it in that section without filling up the anglers tavern section.
also maybe make the senior members such as yellow door and the like moderaters on a forum topic, like on other forums, so maybe the top 10 posters are assistent moderaters to the forums, which takes some of the workload off you.
also maybe make a forum topic for technical help so people that have troubles with there computers can post up in there and the whiz kids on the forums can help them out.
just a thought.

Test area probably not a bad idea. Done.

No offense to users, but a frequent poster does not make a Moderator. We have around 7 at the moment, just none as addicted to this place as me

Really, the Tavern is what we have set up for OT sort of chats. Not sure if we need more forums, but open to see what others think.

I say get rid of the Bream Misstress. Bream Mistress in my opinion is pure sexual discrimination! Yes in the sporting environment there is always the men and ladies section and awards etc as the build is different thus physical capabilities. However in fishing, we don't need that physical difference to be able to fish properly. Look at Mim for example, she fishes very well indeed, equal to her partner indeed. I think Bream Mistress should go, and create more room for other headings. So what does everyone think about Bream Mistress, after all no one uses it much?

No offence Carol, but I think discrimination is a bit strong. I've seen it work well with a number of lady anglers in getting together and form bonds. Nothing wrong with that I believe. I think it's a shame there aren't more lady anglers which may pick the forum up, but as always. I'm open to see what others think.

Yeah, maybe I came across too strong. Just don't think Bream Mistress is necessary firstly cos no one uses it. Secondly, in my opinion for a female to use it is like saying yeah ok we belong in this box, we will isolate ourselves, we are different. Females these days are seeking to be equals and especially those who also fish, we have to mingle, to blend in, we have to try a lot harder in all areas I see what you are saying, the purpose is to assist female anglers seek other female anglers. However I believe if they are really keen to do that they will probably have their avatar names to identify them as such, have it in their profiles, or have the initiative to mention it in their post.

In my opinion I think it would be better off having a forum like the other fishing forum where they have a Fishing Buddy Search. Where people can seek fishing partners for shorebash or boat, for females seeking other females, for gays and lesbians or for single girl seeking guy or guy seeking girl!

Anyhow, now that I've calmed down, JMO

Cheers,

I see what you mean Carol, but I also think sites like this come across a bit too 'Tim Taylor', but I see where you're coming from with the idea of the fishing buddy forum. I'll make the change and we can see where it goes.

Great idea Rayman I mentioned ages ago to Bear about people not filling in their location on their profile page which makes it difficult to hook up with other fisho's but your idea puts it right where it can be seen and also encourages people to include it.

Kills 2 birds with 1 stone :-)

Shane, I like your idea mate re the gear used only prob is lazy people not filling it in. Hopefully they find it useful and remember to add theirs in as well. :-)

Lightbulb

With the large number of forums you now have Bear would it be possible to make to section headings collapsible?

That way only the section you were viewing would be open and using CSS if you wanted to view another section you could open it (Click the heading) without having to reload the page.

Just a thought.

Hi Becker,
I think, for the time being, we'll be leaving things as they are as we are looking at other options\expansions soon.
