I don't do facebook so excuse me if iam stating the obvious but that looks like the old Port Augusta power station, it was a renowned spot for big kings, seen a few shows on different fishos catching some big fish from there. Remember a IFish episode i think it was IFish? where this old fella in a little tiny was in the background getting towed around the bay before he landed a nice king. Don't know how it will go with the closure of the power station, no hot water outlet.

He was much loved for his understated presenting style and letting the quality of the fish do the talking for him - but even he got a little bit excited while chasing down those kings. We've got a power station in Melbourne that spits out hot water called "The Warmies" - It only runs when power demands exceed what the other power stations in Melbourne can provide. Peak of winter when everyones using heaters or aircon in summer - is when it runs most often. If the pumps arent running it can be a ghost town - but if the pumps are on - it can be shoulder to shoulder for 150m on both banks of the outlet channel. Big tailor you rarely encounter elsewhere show up - Trevally and salmon pack themselves in with a smattering of Jewies and big schools of enormous mullet can be seen backflipping around. Without the hot water - the fish go somewhere else - there is another secret hot water outlet in town, that runs more regularly, on a much smaller scale but its only accessible by boat and illegal to fish Last edited by yellow door 1; 28-11-2018 at 01:45 AM. |

Yep there is a few spots exactly the same in the Hunter Valley around lake Macquarie Central Coast of NSW, the fish love the hot water outlets, hence the restriction put in place.

You can't beat local knowledge. That's pretty good fishing in a river.
