Motorguide Xi5 Wireless Foot Pedal Batteries

evening all,
i have a motorguide that i bought the wireless foot pedal for. just wondering if anyone has one and enquiring as to how they go with batteries lasting multiple trips. i turn the pedal off as instructed after every trip but find me having to replace the batteries at the start of every new trip....seems the batteries drain even with the pedal turned off. not a big deal but is a bit annoying so seeing if it was only me with a faulty pedal or if this is the norm. cheers in advance for any info....Rowboat
