Just have to be mindful of the sharp edges inside the rivet body that could wear through your leader 'eventually' - wouldn't hurt to ream the inside forward and trailing edges with a sharp knife to remove any burs.

I know people use the straws off Inox / other spray cans - those clear pinpoint straws. Cut to length - insert a round headed pin / seamstress needle inside and heat the last bit and pull it down to make a cup - then insert into the plastic with a little super glue to hold in place.

So how do you rig your plastic after you've done all that?

Either treble (or straight worm) hook down the back (hooked into body - tied onto the leader - float stop - texas weight / half bullet sinker (in the cavity after the head portion) - float stop - leader through the straw - float stop - leader onto main line.

Or for those that want head down sink - just use the weight at the head and put the float stop in front of it to secure it in place.

There are ways to put another treble hook up the front too via the use of another float stop sandwiching the hook in place.

Just get one of these, and shove it up the a$$ of your plastic and pull the leader back through the a$$.

I assume the rivet is supposed to offer a subtle presentation, with a little protection from tearing as well as putting a bit of weight up front.

The guy using the method does it with 12 to 14lb flouro carbon so maybe thats how he overcomes abrasion issues with the edge of the rivet.

Similar hook exposure could be achieved by using a normal jighead with a stinger.

I just thought the rivet was interesting
