Yeah there are other options out there - a ball head jighead and some orange powder would do it

Yeah i like that! The littke rubber ball looks great though. But the jig head up front bothers me. How about a heavy hidden weight jig head with the ball?

Yeah that sounds like a more realistic presentation - and one that doesnt invole making your jigheads permanently orange just because it suits one species during its spawning run.

I dont have alot of experience with hidden weights - As long as you can find one heavy enough and with the right hook size to deal with strong flowing rivers - you're on to a winner

If you were using lure clips it might be quicker to have another plastic rigged without the bead - and switch between the 2 - would also keep the plastic in good condition - in my experience theres not alot of plastics that react well to being re-rigged multiple times

Please post a reply to maddog. That at least the orange jigheads will match his hi-vis bomber jacket.

Im a lazy clipper. I dont bother tying onto jig-heads i just use those mustad clips. So switching for me wouldnt be a problem. And your spot on, plastics dont love being dehooked and rehooked.

A neat idea, for me I think a painted jighead and a second pre-rigged somewhere accessible would be the go.
