Long to short shaft conversion

Hi guys I have a 20yr old 15hp Johnson works well for an old motor.
It has the Johnson 5 inch conversion section in it. I was wondering how I would go about converting it back to a short shaft?
Cheers
Stuart

I don't know a lot about the outboards but I am doing up a boat at te moment and I picked up a great deal on a 25 merc 93 model long leg. But I need a short leg and my grandfather who is a wiz with this stuff had to actually replace the long leg with a short leg from another 25 merc that the motor was stuffed on. He said that with the merc at least there was no way to modify the long leg to make it shorter.

No doubt you would have to buy a conversion kit as the drive shaft inside will be too long. Probably easier and cheaper to buy another second hand short shaft and sell your other.

Another option would be to make up or buy a jacking plate.
