Wilson LCS Graphite 1-3kg Rods

My mate had one of these on his Stradic for 2 years.

That rod saw some big fish...

Def would be my first choice in that price range. ($80)

Don't get the Shimano Sonic Series.

Heard of SO many of them breaking, also 2 that I owned snapped within the first month or so.

Shimano Catanas are pretty good. You can get one with a 2500 sienna for $99 from quite a few tackle stores. I had the older Catana and 2500 as my first proper set up for light bream fishing and it was a good starting combo.

edit - i had $2500 :S

there pretty good mate for the money you pay, in that money there are a few options worth a look at,

starlo stix
shakespeare synergy
rovex rods (can't remember the model name)
sonic sticks
shimano catana

there are more but i can't remember all the options.

out of that list the starlo stix probably have the widest range of rods to choose from. personally when i was in your position not to long ago (5 years) i had the orogional shakespeare synergy and i still have i fondness of that rod. you can find them in some places for the lower end of your budget as where the starlo stix will cost towards the upper end of that limit.

where abouts are you located as im sure there are people on here that would be able to suggest a good local for you to look at and see what you like.

Mate I currently use a Sonic Pro Series 7ft 2-4kg rod, And I can't complain about it at all its put up with plenty of abuse and keeps going strong, as has my mates 2 sonic series pro rods

Stear clear of the Mojiko brand rods since while they are cheap they are not strong/sturdy, I had two snap in about the exact same spot near the tip (a 1-3kg and a 2-4kg model) under VERY light use, even when i got them for $39 each on sale they are not worth it

But I'd definitely suggest checking out the Catana & Starlo Stix rods too, as well as suggest saving up some more cash mate and picking up a Pfluger Trion, or berkley Dropshot at about $100 each cause they are definitely worth it for a budget rod!

Tsunami Bullseye @ K-MART

Should be around $69 at full price and less on sale.
Or get a Dropshot on sale (I paid $78 for mine)

I've got 2 of these and use them regularly. For the price they are a fantastic rod. They can chuck a light sp or HB a very impressive distance. Throw a 10g slug with it and you definately want to make sure you have some space, they really send them out. Pulling power for such a cheap light rod blew me away and each one I've looked at has been perfectly wrapped and finished with guides and reel seat all lined up unlike quite a few of the trions I've looked over. I also like the short handle so that gives it a big plus for me.

I have had a 2-4kg sonic pro series for about 3 years
and landed some big fish on it.
For $60 would defiantly buy it again.

I used a catana 662 spin (3-5kg) for a couple of years and didn't have any trouble with it. can handle bigger fish farily well (caught barra up to 6kg on it). I would highly recomend it.
cheers
