And I find in winter, I need clearer access to "Tetanus Tower" for my rod holders and livie gear - so I'm always using the wheels to get the rods out of the way

So I figured I no longer needed access to the table top and back up drawers - and some slim line rod racks would come in handy

You can still shift them around by dragging and they take up alot less floor space -
I was so happy with the results - I made up another couple of "flat packs" for the Garage so the second string out-fits wouldnt be leaning against the wall. Last edited by yellow door 1; 18-08-2017 at 03:27 AM. |

Well its that time of year again - The eggs are hatching and the sun is creeping down the wall at almost a brick a day

And the Goldfish are getting too big for the tank
- I tend to feed them the same way I feed myself - The food only stops when they cant fit any more in, and these blokes are relentless - the corn, worms and shrimp flakes, see them out grow the tank in a year. The bird, who used take the big boys for her pond, has left - so other arrangements have to be made. I was looking at the ponds available at Bunnings and they were "dreaming" asking that much for a big fancy shallow bucket, which left its inhabitants open to being scooped out by predators. As luck would have it - I found the hull of a bar fridge that already had all the internals ripped out There were a couple of big holes and a few small ones that needed patching - so I cut up the plastic shelf with the angle grinder and made some patches which were siliconed in. The screw holes were plugged with silicone and then a 10c piece sized blob was placed over the hole. I considered digging a hole, but that seemed like hard work and would make it more susceptible to wind blown rubbish and leaves - I also recently found some wooden beds slats - so I'm going to go above ground with wood paneling. (I cant make anything permanent yet, as I'm waiting on the solar powered pump/filter to arrive) Once I stack it with lillies and reeds - and relocate it under the stag-horn - its going to look pretty sweet - the walls are insulated and it will only receive a few hours of direct sunlight a day, so I'm hoping overheating wont be a factor - (but I have a plan in place if it becomes an issue) One bonus I hadnt expected was the free food source - the fruit flies that love the compost bin also like taking a dip in the pond - it wont take long for the fish to lock into that food source Last edited by yellow door 1; 25-08-2017 at 05:44 AM. |

Heres the solar powered Pump/filter.
It only works when the panel is exposed to direct sunlight. Its a small panel with no battery to charge - So I'm going to have to heavily stock the fridge with plants to keep the water oxygenated. But it should be able to handle 3 goldfish. And I wont be relying on the filter to do much work either - a regular cleaning regimen will be in place. Its mainly there to circulate De-oxygenated water during daylight hours. Its got a 5m cable so I can mount the panel on the roof for maximum solar exposure Last edited by yellow door 1; 25-08-2017 at 05:46 AM. |
