Hey BM,
Just wondering what you guys are using for a hards battle stick? Needed for heavy timber. Cheers BRG

I'm going to assume "Battle Stick" is a nick name for a no nonsense rod you can pull breams heads off with

When I used to fish heavy timber it was docks - So I needed a short stick I could weave in and out of the sticks and not smash into the roof - I also chopped the butt off, so it wouldnt get in the way when making underhand casts and quick directional changes while fighting fish. The 6ft rod also made accurate casting easier

I used to use a 2-4kg nitro - but that 15 years ago so I cant give any up to date info - but some of the thought processes that went into choosing the rod might be thought provoking

We used to tie on 8lb leaders and wrench those suckers out

2-4kg Air Edge 701ULS, I think is the model. Sadly, no longer available
I've matched this to a Daiwa 2500 reel.
Some will say the rod is stiff for hards but I like the stiffer rods as they also double as my soft plastic rods.
For me, the extra pulling power of a 25XX is pretty much mandatory when every turn of the handle counts as to who wins the battle.

^^^ What he said 😉 but I use a 7' Duffrod that I picked up on BM secondhand. Fantastic rod for hb's. Loads up nicely with great pulling power down low. Has accounted for some 40+ bream and a few hard pulling schoolies as well. Good luck with your choice. Regards HBt.

Daiwa Battler Beowulf. Again pretty stiff for yards but I've fished hards no problem, definitely better suited to plastics and has more than enough grunt for a rod rated 2-4kg. Too much power for small bream.
