Nice!! that would've saved you heaps. I have upgraded all my reels to carbontex and it surprises me that even new reels like the stella fe doesn't have carbontex on them.

Should get your daiwas a bearing upgrade too on the spool since you've upgraded the drag system.

I have upgraded all my drags and bearings, smooth as ever.

I think the reason that new reels dont come with carbontex as standard is that there is more chance of more people using warranty claims and getting the repairs done at no charge due to more stresses being placed on the reel. Its like the amount of grease that is contained within a lot of new reels, way too much, to ensure the reel lasts through the warranty period.

Perhaps

I brought a sheet a while ago cause I was going to replace the washers in my 560 Penn live liners but when I took the washer out it turned out to be a carbonex washer anyway.
Anyway now I have a sheet waiting for any upgrade I need to do.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which thickness would be the most suitable for a 2000/2004? Downrigger has either 1.0mm or 0.5mm.

If it's a single washer drag use the 1mm if its a multiple washer drag(3 washers) use the 0.5mm or the drag stack becomes to high and the clip won't go back on.

With the 3 washer stacks I have simply been replacing the top one (only one thats a friction point) with carbontex and leaving the other 2 as felt. This way you can use the 1mm sheet rather than the 0.5mm

The bottom and top washer plates are keyed into the spool shaft and the centre washer with the tabs on it is keyed into the spool so all drag washers have contact with a rotating surface so are all friction points.

In saying that you can fit two 0.5mm washers and one @ 1mm if you like.

What advantages does this host opposed to having them all replaced with 0.5mm? I don't see the point.

Edit: Scrap that ha! Refreshed the page way too late.
