Hello from Northern Tassie
Hi folks.
I'm Spork (thats not my real name) from Launceston. I used to fish heaps, but then life got busy and I stopped for some years. Now I'm finding some time again and I'm fishing once or twice (more when on holidays) a week, and loving it as much as ever. I have caught plenty of bream on bait, and a couple on soft plastics, but I have never snagged one on a HB, so that is my current mission. I sold my boat ages ago, but recently bought a kayak (Hobie Revo13) and I'm loving the ease and simplicity it offers. So far I have only tried a couple of exploratory breaming trips on it. Franklin rivulet @ Port Sorell (caught about 1 000 cocky salmon, some small flathead, a tiny baby ?cuttlefish, but no bream) and Pipers River @ Weymouth. Pipers was mud after 2 1/2 inches of rain the previous day, but I have caught them there before, and it was much easier to get to "my spot" on the kayak than scrub bashing like I used to. I'm keen to suss out these locations because they are less than an hours drive for me. I know there is some great breaming on the East Coast, and in the Derwent, but I wouldn't be allowed to go to either the coast or the capital too often without taking SWMBO... Anyway, great forum here, learning a lot from reading other's posts. Hoping maybe meet up with some local bream gurus to learn some tricks, and hope to post some pics / successful trip reports of my own in the future. Cheers and tight lines. |

The north will fire more during the warmer month, from spring onwards.
For numbers of fish out east or the Derwent are your best bet. Having said that there are some thumpers up north. Pat |

Hey noori, yes I did mean natural bait.
Nippers, mussels or worms caught from the same area, or frozen prawns have yielded me plenty of success over the years. |
