I would if they were available...
But unfortunately they are not available yet, hence the question (Yet another person correcting a legit question asked on a public forum...) |

Maybe Kyle should buy one of every lure on the market to conduct his own tests, rather than gather information on if a lure will suit his needs?

I don't post alot but wow this thread is crazy. These guys are giving us good information and it's really just a lure, we're all still catching fish. I agree with the above comments, you generally research (find out a little info on a lure) before you buy a few for your own tests.
I'm quite keen for these as I've had very good success in SE QLD with live crabs on jack and bream and I'm trying quite hard lately to throw the bait habit and be 100% artificial. |

Pretty sure the design specs and actions etc were covered fairly well in a previous thread somewhere. Don't recall which one though.
The base plate is weighted. There was two different weights I believe. Cavity under base plate that slides/clips off to squeeze some of your fave scent. This plate also secures the interchangeable legs. Yes they always land right way up. And I think Steersy quoted they tested sink rates of crabs and the Cranka Crabs fall at roughly that same rate legs spread just as a live crab does. That's how I recall it anyway. Chuck a crab in the water, it doesn't spiral out of control.

It was that video that convinced me I must have some of these lures , been a bit of a wait but I'm sure it'll be worth it.
I pre ordered months ago , just hope they get to the West before all the brag shots from the East become unbearable . |

Good questions mate... the CRANKA Crab has been designed to sink like a natural crab does mate... i.e legs slayed out to slow its sink rate... it is designed with an interchangeable slide in / slide out Tungsten weight which keels the lure and even if it lands upside down it will flip upright as soon as it starts to sink. The Legs are made from an advanced soft plastic material which has been carefully selected to achieve the correct leg stiffness... real crabs have hard carapace legs so it was important for this lure to maintain the stiff leg appearance of a real crab as it sinks... if they are too soft they will fold upward on the sink and not look as a real crab does... if they are too hard they will not fold up / out of the way when a fish eats the lure or when the lure crawls / is pulled into a rock or weed crevice... a lot of care has been taken to achieve the correct leg stiffness that not only looks natural on the sink but also folds when required to effectively spring/ climb the lure out of rock cracks or when pulled through thick weed / snags etc... the legs have also been angled at just the right angle so as to touch the sand / rock etc on the bottom when the lure touches down... this leg angle allows the leg tips to catch on the bottom as it is dragged / pulled / hopped along... this effectively makes the legs look like they are moving naturally like a walking / crawling crab. The legs do have a little bit of movement on the sink but the majority of movement is provided by the floating claws/ hooks... as these wave about in the current etc... the floating claw is designed to replicate the action of a real defensive crab that naturally raises its claws in defence when danger approaches. There is a little underwater video footage kicking around of our prototypes that was filmed at last years AFTA trade show if you search... think it was on the LURE & FLY site and the FISHING WORLD site... but we are in the process of putting together some good underwater footage showing the action of this lure so keep you eye out for this! Happy to answer anyone's questions so thanks for asking! Cheers Steersy CRANKA

How awesome do these things look! Cant wait to flick them around! Now the ultimate question is do I justify throwing one into a wash off a bommie and see how a drummer will react!

These things are just going to be silly good on our rock walls, yacht clubs, canals and flats. The guys have made it through all the dramas of production and I'm sure with the crab's soon to hit the shelves everyones patience will be rewarded with an awesome new lure. Adding this one to your quiver will no doubt reward you with a new way to fish your favourite haunts and also a PB or two on big bluenose bronc's.
I personally cant wait to fish them.A lure this innovative is sure to put a smile on your dial. Congrats Steersy and Coxy on a job well done. Cheers Stevo

my main question would be, do bream attack the claws or the body first?
and was there any research done into this before deciding to put the hooks onto the claws?
