2000 size reel
I am chasing a couple of decent 2000 size reels.
Happy to spend a couple of hundred but don't want mag seal. Shimano are my top choice but they don't do a proper 2000 size, Daiwa 2000 size matches the rods really well. The Daiwa BG looks like a decent contender? |

The only real 2000 size from Shimano is Soare 2000SHG so far.

Do they fit into a size category of their own or is the 2000 size a 2500 spool with 1000 size body etc.

The weight of the BG's is something to consider.

Are the pita bread wraps the safety net for the reel if it falls?

Pita's are good but I prefer to go with Rosemary Garlic Focaccia

Food isnt my strong point - only know where it goes in the face.
Anyhow onto the OP - why the strong interest in the 2000 size reel?

I've got a couple of Soares (the one before the newest model). Fantastic reels but I wouldn't pair them up with a rod weighing over 100 grams. They are pretty light reels weighing in at around 185 grams. The 2017 version is around $295 and the previous version around $250.

Got a couple of rods that a 1000 size is too small and a 2500 too big. 2000 size Daiwa seems to balance the rod best , suit the stripping guide size and placement and visually look right.

There are heaps of shimano 2000 sized reels, we just don't get them in Australia

you got the choice to go slightly smaller than the current 2000 (2000 LT) or slightly larger than the current 2000 sizing (2500 LT) |

So many variables these days with buying a rod that the reel has to match visa versa, love it when people say there isnt a "balance" point, also like choking characteristics - theres a whole lot to go hand in hand other than just feel and looks. I remember there were so many true 2000 size reels couple of years go, discount the C2000 which are actually 1000 size reels. Online seems the best bet.

The only true Shimano 2000 ( body and spool between 1000 and 2500) I could find is the Soare 2000 imported from Japan. All the others I found in Japan are C2000 so a 2000 spool on a 1000 reel.

The C2000 spool is only 3mm difference than a 1000 size reels spool (i honestly couldnt see any dimensional variations other than line capacity) and all fits on a 1000 reel with no change even with line lay. Tried between mu Ultegra C2000S and Stradic 1000 FJ.
