54/54 swdr watersnake problem

hey guys i just thought id throw it up here incase someone has had the same dramas etc.

my leccy will now only turn and not motor properly, when i say properly it wil sometimes take ages or 5-10 seconds to start the prop and now after 2 trips playign up once it does start the prop i can not stop it.

i had dramas a few years ago with it and it was the speed control unit, i think it could be this again but 2 times in a few years dont really sound all that good odds wise, can any one help me out here and agree or disagree etc.

i have sent an email to 2 watersnake sites one for parts and info and the other for info but havent heard back from either after a week

cheers clay

The Adelaide site that services & no doubt supplies parts for these units is, or is in the process of closing. Perhaps this is where the delay in getting information is.
Not sure where / what the plans are from here.
Good luck, I hope your problems are sorted speedily

Clay,
I have only just seen your post.
I had the same problems as you, as well as the unit turning on it's self.

Does your unit have the built in fuse in the main line?
I believe W/S changed this after have a number of problems with this, I was one.
The newer model does not have the fuse in the line, & I have had no problems. touch wood.(touches head)

I have dealt with the service centre in Adelaide & they have been more than helpful. I didn't know they were moving?

Anglers Central Service Centre (Spare Parts, Repairs & Servicing)
2/7 Circuit Drive
Hendon. SA. 5014 Australia.
Phone: +61 8 8244 8790
Free Fax: 1300 763 331
Email: spareparts@anglerscentral.com.au
Email: info@anglerscentral.com.au
Online Store: www.anglerscentral.com.au

can't remember the guys name but he is a yank, was more than helpful.
Ring the number above, as I did & ask why know one has replied to your email firstly, then explain your problem.

Hope you get it sorted.

I was having a similar issue (may not be the same) previously with my water snake cutting out and coming on full throttle when it felt like it.

After speaking the the service centre guys in Adelaide they sent me a new pedal cable for the motor. They told me that occasionally the wires can become loose in the hard plastic moulding and loose the connection causing it to misbehave in such a way.

Can you wiggle the pedal wire and the motor cuts out/turns on? if so may be the same issue.

It was a simply unplug and re connect and it hasn't stopped since. Hope your is an easy fix also.
