For me here in Western Victoria it's one of five choices-
Lakes- Bent Minnow 76 white Streams- Dr Minnow Jointed Winter river fishing- Daiwa TD Minnow 95mm Summer river fishing- Berkley T-Tail Minnow or Strike Tiger 1" nymph I've never caught a trout on a spinner. I don't know if I've ever even thrown them though. Heres one of the bigger fish on the TD last winter

Are tassie devil lures any good for streams and river casting?
Most of what I can find on them revolves around trolling

I wouldn't bother with a tassie for creeks no matter how small the tassie, the touchdown splash will be too loud, you'll struggle to keep them out of sticks and the bottom and they'll have to be retrieved too fast. For rivers the only time I'd use them would be in very strong current and deep water like the Hume Weir. Minnows are the best choice for streams and the majority of river situations. |

Thanks for the advice mate, much appreciated I’m going to stock up on a few tassie’s anyway, for bigger water occasions, but keep them away from creeks and streams after reading that. I picked these up today just coz, won’t fish them, just hoard them lol couldn’t find colour 01 locally, but the search continues

Then this bloke shows up with a snapper outfit with 20lb mono and gives me a master class on the effectiveness of Tassie Devils. It was his first time throwing lures. |

Used to be the Jensen insect spinner for me. Caught heaps of trout on it and quite a few bass as well.
