Going old school.

Of late my quest to use old school pistol grip Ugly Sticks and OG Bantams has been at a all time high...

I don't go without taking at least one combo out with me running monofilament and bending a rod from near the foregrip. Does get a little hairy throwing some of the better surface lures and offerings - just haven't gone all the way down the yellow brick road with old lures.

They do still catch fish and just as good as the newer gear, and the softer old glass rods don't tend to pull hooks out of lip hooked fish.

The venerable baitcast reels are used in the fresh especially of this vintage, you can only do so much to keep them from turning to powder...

Saltwater ruined so many of these and so many more "saltwater safe" reels.
