Storing jigheads and soft plastics together

I have just put together a box for a trip with jig heads and soft plastics (squidgy, damiki) in it.

Is that a good idea or will the oils in the soft plastics rust the hooks

The plastics on the jigheads or just in the same box stored separately?

I've done it for over a year now with no ill effects. The oil from the plastics will protect the hooks from rust if anything.

Don't leave atomics on jigheads, or not the atomic jigheads anyway. Had the oil from the plastics react with the lead and the hook, eating away at both

As long as none of the jigheads have been used it's not a problem, all of my jigheads in my trays are already rigged, some stay unused for months and remain as new

Thanks guys.

I thought it would be OK. I just had that niggling feeling after finishing packing the tray.

So ... Slight thread diversion but I think the OP was answered .

What do people do with jigheads that have been swum?

Quite often I have swum a head but it hasn't snagged or taken a fish. To date I've just rinsed it off and put it back but have noted some oxidation(?) on some of them.

What's the general consensus ? Retire them, rinse whilst rigged and store, unrig the placcie rinse and store ? And same storage as new or yet another tackle tray ?

I rinse all HB, Jig Heads and SP in fresh after using.

I will try and rub off as much scent as I can (S-Factor & Megastrike)

All go back in their trays.

Been doing it for years and have had no problem with jigheads rusting or becoming weak etc.

To add another thought to the re using of jigheads and possibly keep sloth on his toes with the mental processes.
Do you not think that the chemically sharpened jigheads will lose some of their penetrating power due to the reaction of the point with any saline water while they are being used and if any salt residual is not entirely removed in storage.
To my mind this means that you are not using the best possible standard of terminal tackle when you may hook that "fish of a lifetime"

I personally ditch any jigheads that have been swum at all after use and never have anything but new jigheads in my box.

Bwahahaha

...says the man who makes jigheads

But actually I do agree. But I can't justify the cost for rec fishing. If I was independently wealthy I'd do it. I'd also only wear socks and undies once too. Have em washed and given to the homeless. I'd give my swum once jigheads to the seafarers mission.

The sweet spot for me is I reuse. If it starts failing the thumbnail test it gets a touch up with a file. Once it blunts after that it's gone.

If I lose a fish of a lifetime I'll find someway to reason it wasn't the hook. But damn you, these are the thoughts that keep me awake at night

Hmmmm .... What to do
