With my next rod I think I will skip the hook keepers. Great idea but not for me. I have them on the left hand side of the rod as I have the reel handle on the right. However I do a lot of back hand cast and most times the line gets caught on the hook keeper. I think personally would prefer to use the stripper guide as a hook keeper. And the hook keeper is the fold away ones. In addition, I forget that the hook is near the cork handles and always end up pricking myself!
J

Just not for me but a great idea though.

Treble protector

Well a fellow breamer from this forum however located overseas came over and after years of communication I finally met him. He gave me about a dozen of these. I find it great and I have never seen these in Australia. The only disadvantage is if you put them on the rod, as the hooks are now protected, you can't hook them on the rod guides. They fit all sizes of trebles, a flexible plastic, very secure and don't fall out.

Great idea I reckon, apparently they are as cheap of chips over there!

Great for stopping the rod tangle in lockers.

I wear a multi-pocket vest when I flat fish. Makes life a lot easier. I'll try to post up a picture later.

I like to promote local if they stock the right gear so, for those who like the lure wraps I've mentioned before and want to buy them locally then check out Anglers Anon in Canningvale. I believe Shipton Trading are importing them so I hope to see more of them available locally.

I always have a small empty tackle box that i put all the lures i use over the day
so when you get home you just throw it in the sink and give it a clean

stops you getting salt & sand in with your lures

I have reached that time when the eyes are starting to let me down. To overcome this when tying knots in light lines I use a crochet hook. Helps to pull line through and dosen't get tangled.
For those of you who don't know what "crochet" is, ask your mother. If she dosen't know ask her mother, etc.

Well, I knew there was something funny about you when I first met you! Bring me one of those if you ever come on my boat again!
