Fair to say I was stoked to hook it and even more so to land it on 4lb leader after it had plenty of chances to rip me a new one in amongst some heavy timber.
Cirkey - first you ease on in with a wild one and bring it home with that beast. Thats a great way to come out of Hibernation

I zoomed in on that lure but I cant work out what it is - Looks like a bit of carpet with a treble hanging off it

The lure is a Jackal chubby minnow Lozza, it was just what I had tied on from my last Bream outing... I’m not much of a trout fisho so I just used my Bream techniques with the pauses.

Yeah if you've got a retrieve that fools bream - it will fool a heap of other predators aswell - Although alot of people do swear by a plain old steady retrieve for trout.

I meant to say 'without' the pauses not with the pauses.

Retrieve was just slow roll.

Yeah thats the one - boring but effective - I was mucking around with some reddies the other night trying to get into the mind of a small prey item. I was jerking and pulsing, with long and short pauses.

Turns out a slow roll, was what they wanted

And I spose it makes sense - if predators only ate bait that were dying like OJ in the Naked Gun - they'd be pretty skinny May aswell pick off the healthy cruisers as well
