I tend to use flies that have been used before, as they don't smell as much. I have been known to smear them with scent on occasions in an effort to cover up the smell. I think it probably would put fish off otherwise.
Yeah someone needs to sort that out - I also used super glue which doesnt smell anywhere near as bad- Its loctite precision which claims to be "resistant to moisture" I havent noticed any trouble with it dissolving in water but my snatchers probably wouldnt fall apart if it did.

I used to use gorilla super glue to stick eyes to jighead and that holds very well in fresh and salt

But I'm no fly tier - and dont really know what I'm talking about when it comes to super glue and water
