Golden Ponds?

I am thinking of heading out to Golden Ponds on thursday and wondering if anyone has any experience out there? Do you just rock up to the place and pay your fee or do you have to book? I also asked what fishing gear I should take and they didn't really have an answer for me. What do people recommend. I believe they have small barra, bream and some perch. Should be interesting I think. A freind is coming out with me and I hope it is a good day.

just pull up near the shop in there mate
go in tell them you want to do some fishing they will tell you where what fish are
it can be hard fishing as they feed the fish with pellets
i tried for hours with plastics and HBs spinners and flies work ok but nothing beats soaking a prawn out there
make sure you take a hat and sun screen it gets bloody hot out there in the sun not much shade

Sorry, im a little confused??? Can i go Barra fishing in Perth???
Is this like one of those trout farms where you pay your money and try to get a couple of fish?
I had a look on the site but there was very little info available? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I remember someone on here talking about catching 50cm barra out there. Would love to get onto some. Will be taking the whole kit out there so will be able to set up for some good ol bait if I have to. They said on the website they sell bait so well see. What would you use for the trout? Also whats the deal on keeping fish for a feed?

Well I guess ur right. Wouldn't go there to catch bream but not driving to the kimberlies to catch barra either. Same goes for trout. Is a bit easier than driving down south and for an unexperienced fresh water fisherman it would be a good introduction into the species I think.

golden ponds

tips for golden ponds
take as little gear as possible this place is massive you need to move around alot
I take just 1 bream outfit and a bum bag of lures I found hards work best (golds)
Big Pete is right bloody hot not a lot of shade so slip slop slap plenty of water

Barra at the ponds
I have caught many but i found that it has to be a very hot day (days prior have to be hot too) for them to fire up and sizes from 20cm to 40cm.
small frys and sx40 and rs2 bubble pops
All the bream are small that i have caught trout are good sizes so are the pearch

have fun

Just wondering what size outfit would be best. Im thinking about taking the 10lb outfit down but is this too heavy or too light?

I imagine I am going to get smoked on the good ol 4lb bream gear then. Might have to bring my bait caster I think. Only thing is I will have to get some heavier lures for it. Cant wait it sounds fun.
