Not to be misunderstood, I am not having a dig at Edge specifically. I only meant to comment on recoil guides. Never had anything to do with edge rods at all so can't comment. But I have tried the recoils and fair dinkum... surely we've moved past that level of technology...

I think we should put this all into perspective:

1. It's a bream rod, breamos use braid, they'll feel the bite regardless of guide.

2. Regardless of recoils, Fuji or whatever guide, it's a bream the line is not gonna fail, if anything it'll be the leader knot. This ain't game fishing or even impoundment fishing...I'm sure if you can buy a $675 rod, you can change braids periodically.

In conclusion, it's looks cool, it's made by Gary Loomis and thats enough for ppl to want one. I can name at least 3 here that can't wait

Only drama I have with mine is how hot the rod grip
Gets if left on the deck in the sun.other then that
Best rod I've ever owned

Recoils despite the performance or lack of, fascinates me.
Made from nitrinol it's a memory shaped alloy. Indestructible

I was thinking of building a rod focused on durability with a tough blank like the M1, recoils, SK2 with silicone checks, grips and butt.

Pair it with a toughened Tournament SS 700...

Right...I'm going get started

Need a little more of an answer on this,

"Recoils despite the performance or lack of, fascinates me.

Yes, they most likely are indestructible. Other than that, what is the fascination?

To further put this into perspective, this design is not new, only the material selection. 50 years ago, guides called "Foulproof" were what everyone used on spinning rods.

To compare Charlie Sheen to an iconic comic character like the Hulk is just wrong. Got a better sanity check from another source. Thanks.

i have idea buy and use the edge rod to solve the guesstimation ?

perhaps maybe (insert big words and essay here)

also i may have held one of these rods, in a shop. The guy that works there he wanted to prove how sensitive the hole set up was. So the guy (awesome at that, becasue it was his own set up) he stood across the room peeled the braid out say about 20m give or take, flicked the braid, the braid wasnt pulled tight it still had slack in it and i felt it everytime he flicked the braid in the rod handle. seemed super sensitive to me

i then went and tried this on a few rods i have at home with the missus, conclusion the edge rods are super sensitive

hope this helps guys that are interested in buying one of these rods and by no means am i biased as i own samaki, gekkas , megabass , battler rods

and if they had the lb rating i like i would dare say i would own one of these

this is just my point of veiw and what i felt when i held the rod

I remembered a picture near the bottom of the page from the link above. Now, the person says nothing but 4-8 fluoro made the grooves. I cannot vouch for the picture and the claim screams bullshit to me but............................

I'd be very surprised if those grooves in the picture were made by mono or fluoro...

Until you have actually fished with one of the EDGE rods then you will fully understand just how sensitive the rods are, until then all your points and arguments are pretty invalid.

Just curious to know why i would want to feel/hear braid rubbing against my guides. Ive asked a couple of times now but hasn't been answered.
