Ultimate 12ft flats/bream build

Always enjoyed tinkering on boats, and after i couldn't find light fibreglass boat in the flats/skiff 12-13ft range I decided i would build my own.

After alot of research I settled on a Fibreglasss composite build due to its strength to weight ratio and ease of build.

After looking through hundreds of plans and spending countless hours reading up on design, I found i still couldn't find the boat I was looking for.

So i bought this for $50..............
Not sure of the make but I love the shape.

All the stringers were completely rotten and for some reason they had used mdf to build the seats

Let the destruction begin

From memory Phil Bennett or someone else from the SWR or Coffs area did a rebuild on a little 10ft Haines set up as a flats/creek boat.
Was in one of the fishing mags and ended up looking like a very tidy little hull. Might be a few helpful tips within the article, think I've still got the mag if interested, could scan it if unable to find online.

Best of luck with the rebuild, that mdf will definitely have you starting from scratch!

The boats original shape looks good.

Have you glued 3mm ply onto the fibreglass hull?

I screwed 6mm ply to the outside of the hull, then glued (filleted) all the ply together.
Once the glue dried I removed all the screws and then pulled out the original hull.

Interested in how you are going to move from there? Laying up straight to the ply or are you making a mould so you can make multiple boats?
