Played with one the other day.. I know what you mean, It doesn't that bad in the flesh but it still doesn't look good for a reel of that price. I may buy an old model one before they all disappear.

Does any one know if the spools from the older model will fit on to the new one?

ive had one of the 2500's for about 6 weeks now, same as any other luvi.

they dont look as bad as i thought they would, though I have to admit i really really dont know what daiwa are thinking...

put an rcs spool on it and viola, its a certate, so if you are that concerned about how your gear looks then theres an option. if not, and like me your fishing gear is fishing gear, not looking at gear, then you will be happy with it

Bluewater Scarborough have the previous model if anyone is looking. The new ones are different. That probably takes a little getting used to like some new model cars. I was never a fan of the new model hilux shape then I bought one

A couple of things regarding the new Luvias I'd like to know:

Does this reel replace the silver Luvias worldwide? The blue Luvias is an Australia only model I'm led to believe, so is the silver model still in production and for sale elsewhere?

The Daiwa marketing strategy was based on matching rods and reels, i.e. silver Luvias rod with silver Luvias reel, etc., so why have Daiwa effectively thrown this strategy out with the introduction of a blue Luvias?

Seems strange to me, maybe someone in the know could answer?

Pukk'

Pukk, Daiwa Australia have a Luvias-R series of rods that colour match the blue Luvias.

Do not have any idea why daiwa would do that. The old luvias rods and reels looked great, dunno quite what theyre getting at with all the weird colours n crap in their new range.
e.g. http://www.daiwafishing.com.au/daiwa...roduct=saltist

The rods dont look that bad on their own but they would look disgusting on one of the new luvias'.

still wicked rods and reels tho.

Have just purchased the blue luvias.. I didn't like the colour at the start but now I'm starting to love it! I love the reel itself tho. But as ppl have said before it's a reel nt a fashion accesory!
