Line Counter
Hi all,
Anyone have any experience with Line counters for braided line from 4 to 15lb? I have 300m spools of 4 6 8 and 10lb that I want to use 100m by 100m. Looking at the cheaper ones on eBay and other sites but not sure if they work well? If anyone has had one please send me your recommendations on what one to buy... Thank you all in advanced Bash |

The one that Yellow and I have with the round orange wheel works pretty well as I do the exact same thing as you, but split my 125 yard spools.
Yiu can get digital versions but stick with the mechanical one imho

I bought this, plastics are cheap but it works well and its pretty accurate. Cant complain when its under $10 to your door.

Yeah I got the same as Slaz and Alex.
The only thing you need to watch - is keeping tension on the line. The orange wheel spins as the line is pulled through - so if you try to pull loose line through - it wont spin - if it doesnt spin - it doesnt count. It doesnt take much tension to make it work and it isnt a big deal but its something to consider |

I just drew arrows in the direction the wheel has to rotate to ensure the numbers go the right way...

Those line counters are made to clip onto a fishing rod - So I needed something cylindrical to clamp onto.
The pencil worked Last edited by yellow door 1; 23-07-2019 at 10:37 AM. |

I'm going to have to update the line spooling contraption like yours but angle the line counter upwards so you can see the numbers 10 feet away.

My spooling device took about 10 seconds to think up and not much longer to make - so I'll be interested to see what you come up with |

My one is similar but in this orientation as to be able to put a brick or something heavy where the pink arrow points to.
IMG_20190724_170923.jpg Ill have to build an outrigger as to where yours point's out to as to be able to put the line counter in the direction of line flow. I would also like to be able to use a bulldog clip (on an outrigger after the line counter) as to be able to attach a wet sponge as to wet the line with water or Salt Off before it goes through the runners and onto the spool.

Any thing that incorporates stolen office supplies, rates very highly with me If you can steal a cable tie from the IT department - a bulldog clip from Stationary cupboard - and a plastic pot, from tomato plants you convinced human resources, would improve moral if you made a veggie garden................... - suddenly you have the ultimate stubbie holder for a wooden boat with a thin coaming around the edge to keep the water out Last edited by yellow door 1; 24-07-2019 at 04:12 PM. |
