The perfect summer boat trousers?
I don't usually get very excited about clothing, but I've found the perfect solution for what to wear on the kayak or out in the boat on those hot summer days. You need long trousers for full sun protection. The only time I don't want long trousers is if I plan to do a bit of wading in warm water.
The perfect trousers have been around for decades, but they've been very expensive and they're usually really baggy and daggy looking too. I'm talking about those very sheer, synthetic and light weight trousers that are marketed to hikers, etc. If you want to spend heaps that's fine, but I'm too tight to spend $100 of a pair of trousers to wear on my boat. I wandered into DohDohDohDoh Outdoors on Saturday. I was lured in by their 'summer clearance' sign outside. As I went though their clearance racks I came across these 'gems'. They're very lightweight. They're made of a very thin synthetic material, which will dry extremely quickly if they happen to get wet. They're very stylish, in my view, as they fit like a pair of jeans, not too baggy like many similar products. Best of all they're just $29 a pair. I bought 2 pair. http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/Produ...nuFrom=5041048 |

Cheers, bought a pair.
See how it goes - baggy is good for ventilation but less so for looks. Definitely for the slim-fit trousers crowd, and the fabric is lightweight and hardly any stretch.

Yeah, I'm a little concerned about the tight fit and the lack of stretch in the very light weight fabric. They will be very quick drying at least. I haven't given mine a solid workout yet. I think they're very comfortable despite being a bit on the tight side.

No elastic. I had to size up a waist size.

I bought two pairs of these and have the same sentiment of them. Honestly cant fault them - just got to make sure sizing is right to your actual size.

They look really good. I haven't been able to find a pair of zip-off pants that I like, for the money I want to pay. These ones could fit the bill and they're as cheap as.

My wife and i have been using these both Winter and Summer for some years. Skin tight and stretchy material a bit difficult to get on but they feel like a second skin. Dry in minutes and seem to be durable enough. No pockets and a tie at the waist...Perfect for us and the work we give them. Don't get sharp hooks or teeth near them i imagine they would suffer although we have had no trouble over several years.
