I do take that back.
most sites have the Vanquish around $450 anyway. I'd go Certate purely on price. $350 from Japan.

Do they feel as smooth and solid as a Tate redfinfisho? Also I think they're about the same price

Different feeling too a Tate. Tate has a more mechanical feel, presso has a softer feel. Not much of a description but that's my experience. Underload I don't know if I like the feeling of any reel more then a Tate. But t still think the weight difference and light feel through the handle gives the presso the advantage for small stream trout.

Certate and Vanquish definitely fill that finesse mark of fishing. I don't think one would be better than the other when it comes to small fish with light drag. Suppose which ever one looks nicer or comes home cheaper would be your option. they both re-sale very well too.
$400 posted from japan $35 or so more than a tate

They are very nice in hand does feel a little different from a tate but not in a bad way, they are very smooth, comes with a zaion knob too which I didn't think I would like but I have no problem with it I actually like it. Smaller handle than a tate too and is a high gear.

also Manno u trying to take the piss out of the presso range I do believe shimano have a cardiff range

Manno was a hardcore presso fan I believe?

With manno there's no reason a presso would be a better "trout" reel than a luvias certate ignis etc it's a bit laughable.

I would like a presso or ignis in my kit amongst my certates I love for a true ultralight though.

I don't think they're a good line ball comparison.
Certates being Aluminium bodied with CRP rotor is built more as a rugged but smooth performer.
The Twin Power would be its equivalent rival.

Vanquish would be more in line with Ignis Type Rs as ultralight, fast, shallow spooled finesse specific reels. or Aldebaran and Steezes in the bait caster world.

In that case there's a happy 3rd option. Both.

A lower speed, brass geared certate for resistant baits for cranking all day.
And a Vanquish HGS for the lightest fastest thing out there for plastics.

Nath, matt, i have no idea what either of you are talking about.

But to the o.p, id choose the certate. I know matt owns one, and has owned FE's as well. I think from memory if made to choose he'd take the certate over an FE?? Something ridiculous like that anyway!

Certate!
