Not quite as simple as a long flexi graphite stick.
They're usually around 8ft or longer and usually rated 0.6-1.5 and upto #4.0 jigs. These are what I use. This is the action you'll get from an Egi stick. |

I have an egi-force type C
8'3", 0.6-1.2 PE (I use 10lb), max 3.5 size jigs Great rods, caught plenty of tailor and herring on it also, casts small metals a long way. I have a daiwa exceler 2500 on it. |

Whats the deal with egi braid?
Its not like you have to detect takes super sensitively when squidding, and regardless of it being designed for egging or not, gsp's never gonna be as shock absorbant as mono/flouro, so why is there so much egging braid on the market? 6lb mono straight through on a half decent light spin rod has always been fine for me, i understand the extra casting distance but surely the stretchyness of mono/flouro would compensate for the advantage forgivingness wise of a specialist 8ft egi rod with a really slow tapered, parabolic curve? |

well....the braid is more so for casting distance, getting a jig to sink quicker without having to go to heavier jig. Plus working the jig as well. What ever you move is how much the jig will move. Keeps you in touch with where the jig is. So if the line doesnt stretch, then something else will have to give, that's where the rod does, its helps absorb the lunges but been graphite, casting and working the jigs is easier without the sloppy tip waving around.
Egi braid is no different to any other braid BUT the difference is the colour. Notice most egi braid are natural colour, either brown, yellow and black, or white, pink and black. They are also distinctively marked so if you keep an eye on your line, when a squid latches onto the jig but doesnt move, you'll see the bow of the line twitch, thats when you know you got a hit. This is especially very effectice in slightly breezy conditions. Hope that helps the understanding abit more. |

The distributor is WA based so I'm not too sure. If you cant find any, try a good local tackle store and see if they can order them in perhaps?
They are around $250. |

I also got a Majorcraft rod 8'3 a touch lighter, full fuji seat and Sic, from Plat(jap tackle shop) all up incl shipping $250. The majorcraft rod is far better than the gladiator, better graphite, guides, lighter, allround a class or 2 higher, I will use the gladiator for mainly baits under floats. These rods are also perfect landbased metal lure casting rods. Plenty of rods from Plat around 9000-15000 yen($110-$190Aud), shipping is about $30, my rod arrived in perfect condition(4-5 days transit) |
