Somerset Dam Bass

Well I am heading to Somerset dam on the 22nd of December for 4 days so I have thought I should start getting some gear together, I have never been to the dam before and would like to know what some of the best bass lures are for it. Mainly looking at hard bodies and vibes to be run on a Stradic 3000 ci4+ with a Daiwa gen black albino, any tips for fishing the dam, where to fish and with what techniques would also be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Brendan

Hey mate jump on the old abt website and have a read through the old comp results.
Or
Have a look at the fish n bits Facebook page, there based in too wombs and do a weekly report of most of the dams in the area.

Pelicans point, the spit and bay 13 are all popular well known spots but fish will be right through the whole dam by now.

There is standing timber up the back of the dam if you want to fish that or work the points and sloping banks to find the fish.

The main bait schools in the dam are bony bream so your fishing the bottom and fish suspended in deeper water and the bait is usually quite large.

I'd be looking for lures like the tn60 range and blades/tail spinners.
Impact tackle Bladez are always worth a throw and the new larger size cast like a weapon and stay deep on a slow roll.

Mask vibes, zx40, bigeye blades, smatra, power bombs and switchblades are all proven on the dam.

If your looking at plastics look for paddle tails and grubs around 3" long. Sliders grass minnows gulp minnow grubs zman grubs and slim shads.

Jig heads of 1/8th to 5/8th depending on depth and wind.

Use quieter lures first because bass can become rattle shy.

There's been 2 B.A.S.S nation events recently here (last 6months) so you should be able to find some info. Otherwise find Dean Silverster on Facebook or Instagram and you should get an idea
