Unknown fluoro brand

Hi guys,

Yesterday I visited a local fly-fishing shop and bought a spool of fluorocarbon. The brand called Grand-r-Max (riverge), 0.185 mm/7.5 lbs. The owner said this is a most popular and the best leader brand in the UK fly fishing market. It also made in UK.
Does anyone know anything about it? Ever used?
Cheers,
Alex

If you go to the http://www.westernangler.com.au/ site and scroll down to the tackle and tactics bit, there is a link to a story on flourocarbon lines. Kureha is mentioned there. Apparently they invented flourocarbon and are still one of the few companies to manufacture and market it themselves.

Cheers
James.

Alex,
I use riverge flouro all the time for my fly fishing tippets. I have been using it a bit for bream fishing leaders as well. It seems to do the job ok. I would probably stick to using the this leader only in the heavier weights especially around structure. I don't think it is as tough as some other brands of flouro.

Kingpin,
The last spools i bought were about $11 for 30 yards. Not cheap but it is a very good line.

Thanks for replies, guys.

if price is a worry, get some siglon fluoro in the casting version. 200m for around $30. its softer than any other fluoro ive used and knots really well.

Hey Pete,

Firstly, welcome back on line. It looks like you have managed to get a PC and Internet access.
Secondly, where did you buy that Siglon casting from?
Cheers,
Alex
