Itchy Twitchy and Stradic FK 2500

Hey guys,

I already have the Stradic, as i bought it for my catana, when i wanted to target some smaller fish species in the Dawesvill Cut.

Been looking into going for some bream with sp's and hb's mainly and sur ly the odd bycatch like flatties.
Taking back 20 odd years i was a shimano fan and there wasn't much else around back then, but i see that most of you use daiwa stuff aswell and i read some good things about the Itchy Twitchy.

What i am wondering is what you guys reckon about this setup.

I also have a daiwa crossfire 2000 available
The stradic is spooled with 8lb berkley line and the crossfire is empty atm.

Am i right thinking that the DrunknMonkey would be too light?

Thanks in advance,

Rene

I would also say the itchy twitchy is to light for a 2500.

i have owned the rod and it matches perfectly to a 1000 shimano or a 2000 daiwa, depending on the model, the crossfire might have a bit too much weight for that rod.

Rene, the itchy/ 2500 fk combo will be great mate.
My brother uses that exact setup at the Gold Coast for bream, mangrove jack, trevally etc to trout in the mountains when he is down.
He has knocked over some real worthy fish with it, the larger reel balances the rod well and gives you a bit more versatility than the 2004 etc.

Welcome to the site as well!
Matt

I have an itchy twitchy. I prefer pairing it with 1000s and 2000s.

2500s in CI4+ are also okay. It felt average with a heavier sustain 2500 which should roughly be the weight of the FK you are looking at.

I have the Itchy Twitchy and Drunknmonkey, both are set up with 2004 reels. I had the chance when buying them to try both the 2004 and 2508 in store and the larger reel did feel to unbalance both rods a bit.
Personal choice though and you will really like the Itchy, it is a great rod.
