Vanquish LTD...is still a staid reel with a touch of gold.

What I meant was the lines, angles and proportions.
Daiwa is much better in this department.

Toughness and line lay, Shimano wins with a worm drive and single piece bail.

The one thing that deters me from Shimano spinning reels is the fact that they are parallel to the reel foot.

Shimano has gone to flatter angles in their spinning reels, Vanquish and new Stella are prime examples. This may turn out to be an advantage in line management by allowing the guides, especially the reduction set to bring the line down to the blank quickly and provide a smooth transition to the running guides.

Very small differences, like these, when viewed as a cumulative result can be significant. Do not want to speculate but a combined Shimano/Fuji design team would explain some of these latest developments.

Thor,

I've learnt that you need to bring your literacy down a notch here.

What Thor meant:

Although different, because fuji is working together with shimano on this, it might cast more good.
More further.

:P

Sorry about my language usage. In the vernacular, hard to go back to the hood. I will work on it. You do crack me up sometimes, love that humor.

Thanks Thor and Martin. Didn't know that they were working together. New Twinpower is definitely on the cards then.

I'm not sure it's for the better. On Alan Hawk's review he did speculate that the reel angle attributed to the Stella SW '13 being the longest casting reel he's used however.

pretty promising. The TP starts at $295us and SW at $399.

praying there's going to be some 30% off Twinpower 11 and SW when these get released.

That being said he hated that reel (play in the main shaft etc etc), and additionally he makes comment about people having issues with line management if not matched with the correct length rod. However if spending capital as per required for a reel such as a stella, you would hope you'd consider the rod to be matched correctly to it...

Haha and little hairs! The other day I had a mates SW 4000 on the m1 inshore. First thing I did was play with the rotor. I wonder if that trait is endemic to the 20K only. For now capital is going on an expedition 5500H.
I hope they updated the glaring points in the twinnie.
We faced nil line management problems.

Agree, the old twin power has a reliable history. I'll certainly look to a compact 3000 as they suit a range of options. Personally I like the clean understated look too, but reliability and solid feel will be the higher weighted fields for the next purchase.

Additionally, anyone notice Shimano has gone for a similar rotor design to Daiwa??? Just noticed when looking at the catalogue photo pg 2. It's ported so to speak but they have opted for a more complete finish at the bottom of the rotor.

Haha definitely doesn't hurt Shimano to look better. I hope Shimano adopts revises the new models to alleviate identified flaws.

Nearly every other fishing reel company copied on Daiwa rotor design. Well you can see remnants of it anyway. Daiwa is the innovator of fishing gear IMO.

The biggest innovator was Abu Garcia...not as part of PureFishing but back when they were independent. I think they were the ones to come up with Mag brakes, Centri brakes along with a whole host of interesting designs.
