I have similar problems with the eyes so when I'm home and tying leaders I use a piece of black cardboard behiind the line so it stands out better, on the run I look around for anything dark, tackle bag, jeans etc

A good hook or lure keeper i use is one of thous elastic bands off the local paper just loop it around or threw runner, real seat or whatever.then back threw its self , hook the lure on and it holds tention on the line, and no more damaged runners.

Tip

use the little silca sachets in shoe boxes
and throw them in your lure boxes
they help to suck up the moisture and helps trebles from rusting

i dont carry pliers around anymore i have fallen in love with forceps they are normally used for flyfishing but are great for getting hooks out of fises mouthes

ive found 3 silca sachets........my lure box has slots put in it and there is a small gap before the bottom of the slot hits the bottom of the box.............will i have to put silca sachets in each slot or will 1 absord a couple slots around it????

also how long until the sachet is useless????

Ladies hair band for strapping spool with thick wind on leader. $2.50 for 20 bands. Better than rubber band and cheaper than reel brand spool strap.

I don't know if it has been posted but i love using a bum bag from columbia, especially when land based fishing. really easy acces to plastics, accessories, leader spools clippers etc. Not only does it have a belt to attach things like a gimble/holder for beach fishing but it has a waterproof pocket for the phone and camera. Another great 'must-have' is my leatherman, the thing is tough and nails and the saw on it even cut a rough 7-10cm thick tree branch to retrieve a lure stuck on it.

I love my Backwater hand paddle. They are awesome for quickly re-positioning the yak. I don't even take my normal hobie paddle when i go out anymore. These things are just soo much easier.

guys just buy silica gel. it works wonders. they are scattered all over my tackle box in all the compartments. from hooks to lures to anything rustable.
